Because of this, our tools ask you to enter those figures rather than assuming a single program’s rules. A result is only as accurate as the numbers you provide, and it is your responsibility to confirm the correct, current values for your situation.

Why Real Numbers May Differ

Amounts and dates in practice can differ from an estimate because of:

• Program specifics: your field, department, and institution set stipend levels, funding terms, and dissertation and defense requirements.
• Taxes and deductions: stipends and fellowships may be taxed or reduced by fees and health-insurance costs that a simple calculator does not model.
• Timing and calendars: holidays, term dates, committee availability, and scheduling delays can move a real defense or deadline off a plain day count.
• Rounding & currency: conversion between currencies and rounding of amounts and dates.

Citation Metrics

The citation & h-index estimator computes an h-index, i10-index, and total citations from the per-paper counts you enter. Those counts differ across databases (for example Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science all index different sources), change over time, and are only one crude signal of a body of work. Treat the output as a rough snapshot of the numbers you supplied, not a definitive measure of research quality or standing.
